This is an update to my previous post about the G6 Turret and my first impressions.
Update. My G6 Turret lasted almost exactly one year. This past Monday, it detected its last vehicle, went offline and then died with an agonal blinking white light.
Ubiquiti has approved an RMA replacement with a slightly rude “you ship yours first” policy.
I’m not impressed. The G5’s that run alongside the G6’s have been running strong for years. Stick to the G5’s.
I feel guilty producing e-waste like this—it’s a beautifully machined metal product that is now potentiallyI’d like to think Ubiquiti is going to pick the board out of this camera and recycle it. Most likely it’s headed for a landfill. And that makes me really sad, since I try to go out of my way to buy electronics that will last a long time. For awhile, that has been Ubiquiti. Maybe not anymore. a pile of scrap. Ugh! Come on.
